Intan is a Professor of Entomology at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). He specializes in urban and industrial entomology. In 2017-2019, he served as the acting Rector of the Jakarta State University (UNJ). From 2015-2018, he was the Director-General of Learning and Students Affairs at the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Republic of Indonesia. At Bandung Institute of Technology, he has served as the Chair of the Academic Senate, Dean of the School of Life Sciences and Technology, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Before joining ITB, he worked for the Wellcome Foundation Ltd (1982-1986) as a senior marketing executive. Since 2008, he has acted as a program committee and international expert in the International Deans’ Course (IDC) [organized by The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)]. He holds a BS in Biology from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB, 1982) and a Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA (1992). He has written more than 50 academic publications. Besides that, since 2018, he is also the principal investigator for research collaboration between Taiwan and Indonesia (New Southbound Policy on dengue fever prevention and cooperation program).
