The Russian invasion of Ukraine has had a profound impact on Asian geopolitics. Japan, far across the globe, is actively supporting Ukraine by assisting Ukrainian refugees. The Executive Director of the Nippon Foundation, Ichiro Kawasawa, told The Storm Media that Japan currently hosts about 2,000 Ukrainian refugees, providing each with approximately $10,000 annually for three years and free accommodation. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida emphasized the geopolitical significance of Ukraine to Asia. Ichiro Kawasawa, attending the Yushan Forum in Taiwan, reiterated that any incident in Taiwan would inevitably affect Japan, despite its constitutional limitations on military actions.
