
Dr. Sheng-Mou HOU
Dr. Sheng-Mou Hou currently serves as the President of Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital and President of the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation. He is also a Professor emeritus at National Taiwan University (NTU), holding a Doctorate in Clinical Medicine from NTU and a Master's in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, USA. His medical expertise encompasses surgery of the hand, minimally invasive hip and knee joint reconstruction surgeries, and general orthopedics.
Dr. Hou has been instrumental in advancing Taiwan's international medical and health diplomacy. He participated in medical missions to Saudi Arabia. During his tenure as Minister of the Department of Health, he founded the Taiwan International Health Action (Taiwan IHA) team. Under his leadership, Shin Kong Hospital has maintained an 18-year medical cooperation with Taiwan's Pacific ally, the Republic of Palau. In recent years, the hospital has expanded its efforts to countries like Myanmar, aligning with Taiwan's New Southbound Policy, aiming to strengthen diplomatic ties through high-quality medical and healthcare services and to showcase Taiwan's medical soft power.
