Dr. Chien-Chang Lee has served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) since January 2024. Previously, he was a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Deputy Director at the Center of Intelligent Healthcare, National Taiwan University (NTU) Hospital. He earned his M.D. and M.Sc. from NTU and a doctorate in health data science from Harvard University.

As CIO, Lee oversees IT strategy, cybersecurity, and digital transformation for over 5,300 personnel, aligning technology with MOHW’s mission. His research spans AI in healthcare, big data epidemiology, and evidence-based medicine. His work on fluoroquinolone antibiotics and aortic risks led to FDA policy changes. Recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University (2021–2023), he has published over 250 papers with 11,000+ citations. He has received numerous accolades, including the 2024 Edison Award.
