Hon. Erin O’TOOLE
Hon. Erin O’Toole is a Canadian thought leader on foreign policy, economic issues and national security drawing on experience that spans military service, law, politics, business, and philanthropy.
He began his career as an officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force and graduate of the Royal Military College. He served as a Tactical Navigator on Sea King helicopters in support of naval operations, maritime surveillance, and search-and-rescue operations. Promoted to the rank of Captain, he was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and the Sikorsky Helicopter Rescue Award during his time in the military. His service inspired a lasting commitment to veterans and mental health, including the founding of the True Patriot Love Foundation in 2009, which has since raised over $100 million to support military families.
After military service, Mr. O’Toole earned a law degree from Dalhousie University, practiced corporate law at Stikeman Elliott LLP, and served as in-house counsel at Procter & Gamble. He was elected Member of Parliament for Durham in 2012 and served for a decade, including as Minister of Veterans Affairs and Parliamentary Secretary for International Trade. He later served as Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and Leader of the Official Opposition from 2020 to 2022.
Mr. O’Toole is currently President and Managing Director of ADIT North America, part of Paris-based Groupe ADIT, advising clients on trade, investment, and geopolitical risk. He remains active in public policy through his Blue Skies podcast, writing, and speaking engagements, and serves as a Distinguished Fellow at the Hudson Institute. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Government, Leadership and Ethics program at Huron University.
