Tzong Shien WU
Mr. TS Wu graduated from the Institute of Electronics at National Chiao Tung University and joined UMC in 1990. Mr. Wu currently serves as the Senior Vice President, in charge of UMC’s global Fab operations, and Chief Information Security Officer at UMC. He is also the Secretary General of UMC's Corporate Sustainability Committee.
With extensive experience in Foundry Manufacturing operation and a strong technological background, Mr. Wu has been instrumental in integrating digital transformation into the core of UMC’s sustainable operations. He has led the advancement of smart manufacturing initiatives and the development of green technology platforms, enabling the company to deliver high-efficiency, low-energy solutions to its customers. The team led by him enabled UMC’s Fab 12A, the flagship Fab of UMC, to be recognized by the World Economic Forum in Global Lighthouse Network, making it the world's first semiconductor foundry to receive this honor.
As a key architect of UMC’s sustainability transformation, Mr. Wu has embedded sustainable development into the company’s corporate culture and strengthened its long-term competitiveness. Under his leadership, UMC has established a clear sustainability strategy and roadmap, implementing more than 50 action plans annually. The company has achieved tangible and measurable progress in fulfilling its net-zero commitments, expanding renewable energy adoption, and advancing circular economy practices. These achievements have been consistently recognized in international initiatives and ESG ratings, including being listed in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index since 2008 and named the top global semiconductor company three times, and receiving CDP 'double A' recognition for the fourth consecutive year.
