An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, Naval War College, and National Defence College, Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, AVSM & Bar, VSM, holds BSc, MSc, and MPhil degrees. He is currently Director-General of the National Maritime Foundation, New Delhi, India’s foremost resource centre for the development and advocacy of strategies to promote and protect India’s maritime interests.

The Admiral retired in 2013 after a distinguished four-decade career in the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy, during which he was publicly commended three times by the Hon’ble President of India. Since retirement, he has remained deeply engaged as a thought leader and leadership mentor. He serves on the visiting faculty of higher-command establishments of all three defence services, as well as tri-Service institutions including the College of Defence Management and the National Defence College. He also advises the Government of India through engagements with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of External Affairs, and the National Security Council Secretariat, and is a prolific writer with over 100 published professional articles.
